OVERVIEW
The existing warehouse (dry store) at the Marsden Industrial Estate, Brisbane has been extended as part of stage 2 works.
The proposed extension has a floor area of approximately 49,726m². The extension contains essential commodities that are required to be sold in both IGA and ALM stores.
The building design lead to several building code non-compliance’s. Some of these non-compliance’s included –
- Rationalisation of smoke management system for the building;
- Inadequate hose stream jet length and hose coverage;
- Extended travel distance to exits; and
- Non-compliant hydrant location.
The fire engineered design resolved these non-compliance issues by providing performance based alternative solutions. Subsequently, Fire Check Consultants were involved with Stage 3 and 4 development, and tender documentation.
