Fire Check Consultants were appointed by ‘The University of Queensland’ (UQ) to undertake a fire safety audit of the Schonell Theatre Building located at St Lucia Campus. The fire safety audit was to assess the existing fire safety design features of the building, its intended use and any associated fire safety hazards. The intent of providing the audit assessment was to confirm building compliance with the current legislative requirements and to propose measures in order to mitigate further risks of fire and smoke spread and provide recommendations for ‘best practice’. FCC’s audit report described aspects of the building that departed from the compliance requirements of the NCC and therefore proposed rectification works and performance-building solutions to achieve compliance with the legislative requirements.
