The subject building is located at Langton Road, Gympie, Qld 4570. This building is predominately an industrial occupancy with warehouse premises, thus making this building a large isolated building exceeding volume 108,000 m3. To protect the life safety of the employees, a combination of NCC Volume One DtS perspective requirements and performance-based requirements were considered and proposed. The non-compliance issues were non-availability of fire brigade access; extended travel distances; reduced fire hydrant water flow, lack of masonry radiation walls to protect external fire hydrants; and requirement of smoke exhaust system. All the issues were successfully resolved and successfully accepted by all stakeholders.
