A new multi-cultural centre on the existing Yungaba site at Kangaroo Point in Brisbane was built. The new multi-cultural centre consisted of –
- 224 seat auditorium;
- A servery, seating and ablutions areas on the ground level;
- First level offices, meeting rooms, plant room and ablutions; and
- Second level offices and multi purpose rooms and ablutions.
The building design resulted in a Building Code of Australia Deemed-to-Satisfy provisions non-compliance issues. This being that the building’s voids are deemed to be an atrium because more than two consecutive storeys are connected.
A fire engineered performance based solution was applied to the building to resolve the non-compliant issue whilst still providing for required life safety and property protection.
