Fire Engineering (Performance Solution)

Overview

Fire Check Consultants were commissioned to undertake a fire engineering assessment of the extended travel distance for the proposed Medical Centre development in Springwood, QLD. The prescriptive NCC non-compliance was assessed using a quantitative analysis technique, incorporating a comparative analysis of the occupant queuing time at the single exit. The results of the assessment determined that queuing time governs both designs due to the number of occupants and exit width at the stairs. This determined that the occupants would be queueing at the exit regardless of the travel time taken to move from their location in the building to the exit. The assessment concluded that the occupants’ egress requirements would meet the Performance Requirements of the NCC Volume One.
