Fire Check Consultants was engaged on behalf of New Wilkie Energy to conduct a site inspection and propose suitable remedial measures for the fire protection and life safety systems at the Wilkie Creek Mine. Wilkie Creek is an open-cut thermal coal mine located in the Surat Basin in Queensland, between the towns of Dalby and Chinchilla 250 km west of Brisbane. It is an open-cut mine producing thermal coal that is low in nitrogen and sulphur. The coal is then taken by rail to the Brisbane port. FCC provided advice with the intent to prevent/mitigate potential hazards and life safety risks by specifying appropriate fire protection measures.
