The project, known as ‘Palm Lake Aged Care’ is a single-storey residential aged care facility. The floor area of proposed facility is approximately 10,291 metres² and contains 147 resident rooms/beds and ancillary spaces including kitchen/laundry rooms, lounges/dining rooms, theatre, administration offices and staff rooms. Fire Check Consultants developed the fire engineering strategies and solutions based on the Building Certifier’s assessment report, which included variation in maximum allowable floor area for a smoke compartment, break tank and fire pump requirements and sliding smoke doors. The performance solutions were acceptable to all stakeholders. FCC inspected the building and issued a compliance letter ensuring fire safety measures proposed in the report were installed.
