Fire Check Consultants were engaged to provide a Performance Solution in relation to maintaining fire separation between townhouse and carport. The window openings on the first floor overhanging the common carport made the fire-separating wall non-compliant. FCC worked with the client to provide a cost-effective yet compliant solution, clearly detailing the additional protection/separation needed to meet the performance requirements. Avoidance of the spread of fire to and from the unit and common carport, and from unit to unit, was achieved by alternative construction methodologies to those presented in the National Construction Code (NCC) prescriptions.
